An Amalfi Coast cooking class usually takes place in a family restaurant, a lemon farm on the terraced hills or a hotel kitchen with a sea view, and ends with a long lunch. Positano and Sorrento have the most classes, and the coast also has cooking vacations of four to seven nights with lodging.

Classes teach the food of the Sorrento peninsula: gnocchi alla sorrentina, scialatielli with seafood, eggplant parmigiana and desserts made with the coast’s large lemons. Most run from spring to autumn because many restaurants close for the winter, and getting there is part of the planning: roads are narrow and buses are crowded in summer, so check whether the school offers pickup.
